WHAT MAKES DISTRICT 135 FITNESS DIFFERENT?

We start you out with a “No Sweat Intro.”

That is an initial goal session where we discuss together where you are now and where you want to be. We then set up your onramp sessions which are one on one sessions going over all movements and making sure form and function is correct.

Our onramp process is designed to take anyone at any fitness level through progressions to eventually join the group CrossFit classes. Anyone from couch to current athlete can go through our on ramp course. Usually this is a 6 week transformation course, which will also start and end with an InBody biometric scan so you can see concrete results. After that, group CrossFit classes and quarterly goal sessions will keep you on track. Are you ready to change your life?

I have always been active and a fairly fit person. Growing up around a lake I took to swimming at an early age. I started with lessons at the Y and progressed to competitive swimming at an early age. I played other sports for fun, however swimming was my main focus. I swam through middle and high school and was part of a USS swimming travel team, and then at the college level.

Once my career started I struggled to stay in shape and tried many things to do so. Over the course of 15 years I tried weight lifting, then got into running, and eventually spent 3 years doing triathlons. I enjoyed all of these, however finding time to train and plan out my training was taxing with a busy schedule. I found these things were a bit hard to stick to as well, as they were fairly individualized. Luckily I stumbled upon CrossFit. I had read some about it on some of the triathlon forums as good cross training for tris. In January of 2013 I started my journey in CrossFit. I loved the constant variation of workouts and the fact that I just showed up and went at it. After a year in CrossFit, I wanted to learn everything I could to improve. I attended and passed the Level 1 Certification Course held by CrossFit. I started competing and read and watched all I could to improve and to stay safe while doing so. I was back in the best shape I had been in since my college swimming days. I’ve participated in the CrossFit Open for the last 3 years and in 2017 ending the open ranked 3rd in the state of Indiana for my division (Masters Men 45-49).

I started this gym to share CrossFit with others and to provide a supportive, positive place to get fit. I have had a ton of support along the way, and that is the most important part of CrossFit to me. The supportive, encouraging aspect of the CrossFit community is what I want this gym to be all about.

I have been in sports for as long as I can remember. After over a decade of basketball, 4 years in marching band, 2 years in a World Championship Drumline, and 8 years as part of Naptown Roller Derby, I encountered so many great coaches and selfless leaders! They inspired me to live a life where I can help people chase their goals and achieve them! A few years into my Roller Derby career, a teammate introduced me to CrossFit. I knew immediately that CrossFit was going to be part of my life. I felt so at home. I fell in love with the methods, the programming, and most of all, the daily opportunity to push myself to new limits. I discovered I was stronger than I ever believed I could be! I knew I wanted to help others on their journey! In 2013, I got my Level 1 certification and in 2015 I got my USAW certification. I co-captained the Naptown Roller Derby Team for 2 years and coached for 3 years. It was definitely an adventure and a growing process and I am extremely greatful!

I have been blessed with the opportunity to coach others in achieving their goals and I look forward to helping as many people as I can! If I am lucky, I can be half as inspiring and influential as the great coaches throughout my life.
